Q. We have our favourite versions of karaoke tracks, can we find out which ones you have?

Our books are coded with our manufacturer code so you know who produced the song when looking in the book.  They are pretty obvious sun=sunfly pio=pioneer etc..  There is a more detailed breakdown on the website.    In the books you will see that the index number is split up into sections.  The first three letters tell you the manufacturer of the track so you know which version it is.  In the books we’ve displayed the one we think are the best.  We will try to get versions people prefer if we can.  Ask if you have another preference.

Q.  Is your equipment safe and has it been Pat Tested?

Whilst pat testing is a non legal requirement, some organisations ask for pat testing to be done every year.  Pat testing can be costly as testers charge entertainers per item (including cables).  We are fully trained and competent for pat testing (which is actually called “In Service Inspection And Testing”)  Doing the testing ourselves means the we can avoid passing the costs over to you.   Doing the tests ourselves means….

1)             The equipment is maintained and checked regular so less likely for breakdowns.

2)             The equipment is safe for all at the event.

3)             There are no loose or bare wires, broken casing etc.

4)             We know the quality of the testing

5)             Being our own equipment we take that bit longer then a company would.

6)             As there is no cost we can perform an electrical test more regular.

7)             We perform a visual test at the start and at the end of EVERY event.  If we locate a problem at the end of an  event then it will be replaced for the next event.  We still look for problems at the start of the next event just in case there was a problem in transit.

With a yearly pat test, an item can become damaged the day after.  Regular checking keeps everything working.  We look after our equipment and keep it working well.

Q.  Is your sound good quality as some karaoke’s can sound muffled?

Where did I put my trumpet….???? There is is… Phhhhhhhhrrrrrrrrrrrrttt…  In a nutshell…. Yes.  We are very proud with our sound.  We have different speakers for different rooms and environments.  All sound frequencies are covered.  We have digital microphones, digital mixer, digital speakers and WE KNOW HOW TO USE THEM.  An artist (painter) can have a really good set of brushes and paints.  What use if they not have the skill to get the best out of them.  You will still get something but no way near as good as you could.  Don’t take our word for it…. Come along and listen to one of our public performances and if it is a karaoke, maybe even give us a song.  Karaoke singers are generally amateurs who want a sing song.  Rarely do we get professionals on the karaoke.  So with us the singers get the studio feel as we alter the settings on the mixer to make each person to sound the best.  A good singer can sound bad on the wrong settings.  Remember, we were once karaoke singers so we know what it is like knowing you could sound better but the karaoke let you down.

Q.  How does your sound compare with other karaoke’s?

Obviously we can not comment on every karaoke as that would be impossible.  However if you take a set of digital professional microphones plugged into a digital mixer and then you get to hear it through a state of the art Bose Sound System then all I can say is . . . . .  A fantastic sound…. (singer dependant :-)  We also have another set of speakers that are also amazing.  We bring the best speakers with us for the room we are in.  As we constantly monitor the sound and adjust it when needed we do get a far superior sound to people who do not listen and adjust the songs accordingly.

Q.  I have my own karaoke disks, can you play them?

Please notify us before the event if possible, we do not always carry a drive to play them.  Make sure you tell us with enough notice to you singing.

Q.  What is your experience in the event of something goes wrong?

If things never broke down there would be no R.A.C, no AA etc for drivers.  Drivers who look after their vehicles will probably not see these services as much.  Our equipment is looked after, serviced regular and respected.  So there is a very slim chance of breakdown.  However in the slim event that there was a breakdown then we can sort it out pretty quick as there are backups that we use and ways to sort problems.  As we are trained in audio visual we do not just know how to set it up, we know how it works, why it works and what to do to rectify any problems.  We can also use our knowledge to make the event far more professional.  There is not an emergency service for breakdowns when doing a disco.  We do actually run a service for other DJ’s in the event of a breakdown we usually go out to DJ’s in trouble and help them.  Rather then book the DJ with the equipment that breaks down, book us with the equipment that works as it is better then waiting for us to come and bail out your DJ if they are on our system.

Q.  What sort of experience have you got working with audio? (If you click any links you will need your back button in order to return to our site)

Some of our experience was running the sound and visual at Lichfield Cathedral at the concerts, the organ recitals and also the Lichfield Festival.  Also when the National Memorial in Alrewas was opened we were jointly responsible for the audio and visual.  You can even see Russ in the background on Sky News when the TV crews were there (not the nicest of shots of him as he was bending down picking up cables lol).  Helped with the BBC with outside broadcasts, we also did a 24hr karaoke for children in need live, in AV work have also been involved with the power and screens for the motor racing at race circuits.  Have also done work with Stars In Their Eyes.  We have worked with some well known TV personalities like John Culshaw, Don Maclean, Arthur Bostrom please see our reviews in AV section for Don and Arthur’s comments, Janice Connolly , Caprice,  Esther Ranson, Ben Hanlin and more from the TV world and a few from Radio world too including Les Ross, Graham Torrington, Ian Wood, On air with Malcolm Boydon, Ian Wood,  Frank Stewart RIP friend .  We recently did the outside sound for Stephen Sutton at Lichfield Cathedral and also supplying a sound feed to all TV and Radio Networks.  We have had a lot of trust with many important events and had a lot of experience.  So you do have nothing to worry about.  We have also worked with Aston Villa football Players private karaoke party.

Q.  How do I get a digital copy of the karaoke book?

In advance you can to go home page of this website.  At a venue you can scan a ticket with a QR code reader, scanning an NFC tag in the side of the book, ask us to e-mail you a copy, have one sent to you by Bluetooth (Android only).  You can then browse the song book in your spare time..

REMEMBER IF YOU HAVE ANY OF YOUR OWN QUESTIONS PLEASE ASK..

Q.  How long have you been doing entertainment and what experience have you got.

From an early age at school I was on the sound at the school productions.  We had professional mixers and sound systems.  We did concerts, shows, speeches etc.  I was part of the main sound crew and on some occasions I was the director of sound.  It was up to me to get the best sound out of people from one person to a complete multi microphone choir.  Since then I’ve been part of sound systems for large events, helped set up a community radio station and also presenting my own show live on air.  I have worked with the BBC with outdoor events, worked at an audio visual company where I installed and operated the audio visual equipment for many people including some well known people.  I started our entertainment business in 1994 and have had many years experience as it is my full time job.  We did a 24hr karaoke for BBC Children in need.  This means we care for your needs.  Without you, our company can not go on.  Not only do we do Disco’s and Karaoke’s we have done corporate events and large events for famous people, sports celebrities, government events, events that were watched world wide on all forms of media..  We have a great deal of experience that you will benefit from.

Please remember that there is no commitment until all of us agree to go ahead.

Feel free to read the rest of this page if you are still unsure or want to know more.

K=Karaoke—D=Disco

Q.             What is the quality of the sound system you have?

We are only as good as the weakest link.  So we make sure that our equipment is well maintained, looked after and always in top condition.  We use a full digital mixer which has a lot of features to be able to make the Karaoke/Disco and people sound as good as possible.  It’s no good having a great system if you do not know how to use it.  When running the show, the system is not left unattended and sound is monitored throughout and adjusted when needed.  Singers are always attracted to a karaoke they sound good at and also enjoy it more when they are happy with how they sound. Why wouldn’t they.  With the disco we also monitor the songs so there is the correct amount of Bass and tops.  So you know that you are going to get the best sound possible.

Q.  What sort of songs do you have in Karaoke and Disco collection?

It’s important you know what music we play (and are prepared to play) at our events.  This is the first thing that you need to know.  Our event is what you could call traditional clean family party.

If you want music that contains swearing, racist, violence, homophobic etc and are also types of recent rap then please stop now.  Sadly we will not be turned and change our mind.  It is something we have never played, have never purchased and will ever play.   There are many DJ’s who do not care what they play so if  you want the above you will not have a problem finding one.  We have banned and deleted some to avoid us accidently playing these sort of tracks

However we have a great selection of 60’s 70’s 80’s 90’s, 00’s, 10’s 20’s pop ,Motown, Rock and Roll, disco, party dances, Country, Line Dance and some of the better up to date music.

We will be more relieved then upset to lose a gig with music that we just do not play.  Also it is a relief for you not booking someone who does not know that sort of music you want.

However, if you want a family party with fun, classic tracks, then why not book us.

If you are an 80’s person.  THEN YOU REALLY NEED TO TALK TO US… Love the 80’s

Thanks for reading.  This is the main thing that is a make or break for any event.  No matter how professional a person is or how fantastic the equipment is, if the music is wrong then it will be a big fail.  You do not want to pay for a fail and we do not want to fail through confusion of what music is  played.

Q.             Is it easy for us to find a song from the list on karaoke?

We have tried to make it as easy as possible.  On the left side of the page the songs are in song order.  The right hand side they are in artist order in case you can not remember the title but know the artist.  The duets have a separate section and all the added new songs are at the back of the books.  We have online books too.  Ask us?

Q.             Do you have a song list for the karaoke?

Yes we have a physical song list at the karaoke.  To avoid the waste of paper and time we do not re print the books when we get a few new songs.  We wait for a substantial amount of added songs.  However we do have a more updated book on the internet which we try to update as much as possible.  This is a long process as we are catching up upgrading the system.  We print the date on the corner of the pages of the books.  Click  HERE for the latest book that we try to update as regular as we can.  You can also scan the QR code at a venue on either the books or the tickets.

Q.  Do you hold public liability insurance?

Yes we are covered for up to £10,000,000.00 public liability insurance.  £10,000,000.00 Employers liability.

If your venue asks for this please let us know.  We will get in touch with the venue directly with the insurance documents should they require them.  Feel free to let the venue know who we are should they want to get in touch.

Q.  Do you have all the licences for the software you use?

It is easy for people these days to copy all the songs, copy the software that runs it.  We have seen a lot of these karaoke’s and a lot of the song titles are wrong, the songs do not work, there are errors and they just think it is acceptable to do that.  We want quality, and it to run perfect.  We pride ourselves where others just take the money and get through it the best they can.

Q.  Do you have a produb licence?

This is a licence that should not really be a worry.  However we are aware of someone who had officials who were waiting at a venue for the first song to be played.  As it broke copyright law they went in, turned off the equipment and refused them permission to play.  The DJ refused to listen so they took the equipment away.  I have to admit this is very very rare, I only know of one occurrence.  However it can happen.  A produb licence is when you get music and format shift it.  I.E.  CD to MP3 or copy MP3’s onto a disk.  This licence if if you buy a song on CD and then make it an MP3 to use on a computer.

Q.  I have quite a low voice that booms out on karaoke, is there anything you can do?

We alter the sound on the system digitally for each person who sings and also for each song.  As soon as we hear you sing for the first time we will adjust the system to make you sound your best.  However if you are aware that your voice booms on other peoples karaoke just let us know when you come up and we can compensate a little in advance until we can hear your voice and alter it more appropriate.

Q.  I could not even carry a tune in a bucket, can I sing?

There are karaoke’s out there who only allow good singers to sing.  This is something that we would never consider doing as we just want people to take part.  If you are happy to get up on the karaoke we are happy to have you sing on it.  We also do not ridicule or make fun of people who are not good singers.  The idea of karaoke is getting up and having a go and enjoying yourself and we appreciate any singer who has a go.  So please, regardless of your singing quality, if you want to have a go, that is what we are there for.  If you are a regular to our karaoke we will store your settings into the digital mixer so you will sound your best each time you get up.  You are only not allowed on the karaoke if you are known to cause any upset in any way.

Q.  Can you change the key of the song.?

Yes we can adjust the key from 0% to 1200% in 5% steps.

0=Normal

100% = 1 semitone (key)

200% = 2 semitones (2 keys)

All the way up to 1200 which is 12 semitones.   This means we can even go up by a bit of a key without distorting the sound of the song.

If you want to keep a note of what key you sing songs in why don’t you ask us for a sheet to fill in.  For a small charge to cover costs we can print it onto a plastic card (credit card size) for you to carry with you.

Q.  Do you have lights?

Yes we do, we have a basic set which we bring out for our regular sets, for private parties we bring a few extras.  You can (if you wish) do an upgrade then just look at the upgrade page and you can add extra lights to your event.  However if you want to pay for a larger light system then let us know.  We have a variety of lights.  We are in the process of filming the lights and putting them on here.

Q.  Do you have any other effects?

Yes we have some extra options you can choose from.  We usually have to ask the owner of the venue if they are allowed.

Smoke—This will probably set off a fire alarm and we generally do not use it any more.

Haze—This  is less likely to set off alarms but we still need to check.

Bubbles—This is a basic effect but can make floors slippy or stain furniture so we need to check.

Snow—This can be slippy and it may stain, we have not checked yet to problems.

Laser Lights—We have laser lights but these can cause trouble with some eyesight problems.

Low Level Fogger—This requires you to supply bags of ice cubes.  However if the room is warm then this effect may not last long once it warms up the fog.

These are all extra charges and we do need to be checking the venue in advance.

Extras that do not need permission are electronic message boards, projectors, remote pagers, open the box, game show buzzers, dvd players, freeview box, two way radios, 360 camera, drone footage.  Member access cards, digital score board, teleprompt, bingo,  and more.  We will work with you and your requirements.

Q. Can we hire a celbrity to host the show?

Yes of course,, if you have already pre arranged this please let us know so we can check with the agent what they require.  If you have someone in mind and not sourced them then let us know and we will try to locate their agent and let them know the details and get a quote for you.

You are interviewing us to see if we are the right sort of people for your party and at the same time we are also seeing if your is the party we are suited for.

We would prefer to give up a karaoke/disco to another company if we think that any of us could be unhappy.  Before you pay a deposit and then realise, let’s make sure that we are all on the same page.

If we are all happy then we can sort out an amazing event  Deposits are non refundable.
