KARAOKE HAS CHANGED OVER THE YEARS Karaoke has changed over the
years. 30 years ago to book a karaoke
was easy. You found a karaoke in the
area and booked them. The people running
the karaoke had a great system as there were a select amount of shops that
sold the equipment and it was all new.
Disks were all bought new and you could pretty much know what you were
going to get as each area had just a few KJ’s/DJ’s. Then computers were used for karaoke
and technology now allows karaoke tracks to be copied and shared. This bought a lot of people into the trade
who do it for the money only. Of
course the money is an incentive but we also have the love of
entertaining. A lot more people took
the cheap option thinking they could earn a little extra beer money. Along came the cheap karaokes.
We have heard the comment “some bloke down the pub does karaokes for
£50 can you price match” in which we have to answer… “No”. Then after the event we get the call “wish
we had booked you”. You get what you
pay for. The one thing that has never changed
over the years is the stress free booking we give you. All you need to supply is a venue and
as long as they have a safe plug socket, a waterproof roof and we do the
rest. (Sometimes you do not even need to
supply a plug socket if we are working outdoors as we will sort a generator
out for you). Just tell us where and when and leave
it to us. We will do the rest for you
and your entertainment is sorted. I have known people get married and
pay thousands for a dress, thousands for a meal and a buffet and then pay £50
for entertainment and a guy turns up with a home stereo. When you think about how much of the day
the entertainment takes up it should be considered just as much as everything
else. Another thing that has changed are
regulations….. 1. Some microphones need licensing. 2. Some venues require an equipment safety certificate 3. Some venues require a public liability certificate 4. Computers are widely used for Karaoke/Disco the
DJ/KJ should have a produb license 5. Disks are easy to copy so there are a lot of people
using illegal disks. 6. There are a lot more radio waves these days so some
cheap microphones will not work. So if someone is going to charge you
£50 or so they are probably not bothered with a lot of the above. Some people who do not do the legal method
may also turn up with inferior equipment and most that I know have a full
time job so to them it is just a bit of money on the side. A lot of hotels are likely to refuse
a DJ/KJ to set up without the right certificates. Check in advance, (We have them all). However being honest, we have not always
been asked upon arrival. They threaten
they need it then forget. Just do not
be the one where they actually ask. When also installing a karaoke into a
venue it should all be done with the safety in mind of the people in the
building. Your visitors are safe with
us. We will risk assess and we will
always make sure that everyone is safe making sure that it is done with care. |
